Rediscovering the purpose you were already given.
Mary A. Horner writes for people who sense there is more waiting for them than the life they have been managing. After twenty-five years in corporate America, she followed a different calling — and now writes and guides others toward healing, restoration and transformation.
The work continues off the page.
Mary is the founder of two efforts that carry the same purpose as the books.
SpiritUsLord
Founded by Mary to nurture hearts and deepen identity — faith and vision brought together in one place.
Edify You
Built to help people live with intention, purpose and love: the practical side of what the books describe.
The Seven Formation Movements.
The shape of the companion series Mary is writing now. They are movements rather than steps, and they run in order — each one makes room for the next.
Hope awakens the heart
We begin to believe that God is present and something new is possible.
Clarity reveals the path
We learn to see ourselves, our stories, and our circumstances in the light of God's truth.
Healing restores the wounded heart
We bring pain, fear, shame, and false beliefs into God's compassionate presence.
Restoration renews the whole person
We begin rebuilding our thoughts, habits, relationships, boundaries, and ways of living.
Identity reveals who we are becoming in Christ
We learn to live from God's truth rather than old wounds, labels, or expectations.
Purpose becomes faithful living
We offer God what is already in our hands and respond to the work entrusted to us in this season.
Legacy carries God's love forward
The fruit of our companionship with God becomes a gift to our families, communities, and future generations.
Two books, one journey.
Both are written to be walked through rather than simply read — less like homework, more like a quiet conversation.

Twenty-five years in, she went a different way.
“I write not as someone who has arrived, but as a fellow traveler who has known seasons of clarity and confusion, healing and waiting, purpose and rest. These words were lived before they were written.”
Mary grew up in Philadelphia with an appetite for adventure and travel that never quite left her. Her working life was built in rooms that reward precision — clinical research, management, human resources — across more than two decades in corporate America.
Then she followed a calling out of it, toward a simpler and more deliberate life, and toward the work of guiding other people through healing, alignment and spiritual renewal.
What she brings to that work is unusual. The instincts are pastoral, but the training is analytical: someone who spent a career on process, evidence and people, now writing about purpose. It is why the books read as roadmaps rather than sentiment.
“As Christians, God has placed within each of us unique gifts, divine seeds of purpose waiting to bloom. This book is an invitation to that awakening, a guide to rediscovering your purpose.” — Mary A. Horner
